Engine degreaser

Okay guys, I need an engine degreaser to clean my engine bay but here's the catcher....I don't want anything where I would have to rinse my whole engine down with water. You guys know of anything that I could use to just spray on and wipe off? I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to do that because everything requires rinsing and I don't want to go through the hassle nor take the chance of flooding something with water. So yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine degreaser

Anything that can be damaged by water should be sealed off. If not then you have more problems than just a dirty engine.

Re: Engine degreaser

yeah what talskinyguy said.

However, at my work, the engine degreaser (commonly known as All-purpose cleaner) you can just shoot out of a spray bottle where-ever and wipe it up. Engine bay, door jams, consoles, pretty much anything (hence the 'all-purpose') but it is what we use for engine degreasing as well...and it works.

I would think if you check out local auto part stores, you;ll find something.

Re: Engine degreaser

Yeah, I already looked at the auto stores--Kragen, AutoZone...everything needed to be rinsed. But I will try the All-Purpose Cleaner. Thanks a lot guys.

my boy, here is what you do.

-get regular degreaser, any kind.
-get two terry cloths and a brush.
-get a bucket of water.

you are gonna use one cloth with degreaser to wipe up all the grime, and a clean cloth lightly moist with water to dry.

DO NOT SPRAY DEGREASER INTO THE ENGINE! it will do the same harm as spraying water if it contacts anything electrical. just use the cloth drenged in degreaser to clean. if the engine is dirty enought it might just smudge grease around so wrinse off the cloth regularly and then respary it with degreaser. keep the clean cloth handy to dry up and pick up any little dirt left behind.
Use the brush for hard to reach places.
youl be there for a couple of hours but its the most thorough an safest way of doing it.

Re: Engine degreaser

wow, I just go to the Car Wash and pop my hood. Turn onthe soapy water sprayer and have at it. Obviously I dont shoot it into the alternator, or my battery and amp wire, but most connections should be sealed anyway.
