need help to reprogram remote '97 i30

I tried to reprogram the factory remote because it was not chirping when the alarm was set. I messed up on the reprogram sequence. Now I cannot get the hazard lights to come on after inserting key 6+ times. Any suggestions? Disconnect battery cable? Any help is greatly appreciated.
