SAFC II problems

Ok so my friends 95 GST had some problems .... if he hit WOT the car would "buck" or sputter really badly but if he slowly pushed it to the floor it wouldnt do that. So i Played around with his SAFC II and I changed the Hi- Throttle to 99%. and it stopped bucking. Was that the right thing to do or is there some kind of fuel cut or something of that nature on it ??

He has a stage 3 ported polished head, Cams HKS intake 14b turbo, sAFC II. he is also pushing 24 Psi.

Thanks guys PM Me or IM me on AIM and talk to me cuz i wont be able to get on the internet much.

Re: SAFC II problems

Sounds to me like the Hi-Throttle setting on the SAFC-II are screwed up. The Hi-throttle trigger point should be set at 80% and the low throttle trigger at 30%. So by changing the trigger point to 99% you are most likely running on your low throttle map (most TPS's don't make it to 100% anyway).

24 psi with no fuel pump, fuel injectors or logging device.....wow, it sounds like you guys are asking for trouble.

What are the setting on the SAFC-II including, hi and low trigger points, Ne Points, and Hi & Low correction values. I will also need to know what size injectors are in the car.

Right now, I really don't have enough information to help you.

Re: SAFC II problems

Set the low trigger to 30% and the high trigger to 80%. Set the FT's beginning with -15% on the SAFC-II. I would use Ne points of 1k, 2k, 3k, 3.6k, 4k, 4.6k, 5k, 5.6k, 6k, 6.6k, 7k and 7.6k.

You only need to set the trims for 1k, 2k and 3k. Then take your 3k setting and transfer them throughout the rest of the rpm range.

Next take you lo throttle correction values and use them as a baseline for your high throttle settings. For example: If 2k on the low throttle correction map is -17 then make 2k on the hi throttle map -17.

Make a WOT pull verifying that the TPS at WOT reads 95% or above. If not, fix the TPS. Next make a WOT pull from 2500 to redline logging O2, timing, rpm and airflow and post it up.

Also, tell him he really needs to get an AFPR with that 255 pump. It's going to make tuning even more difficult.

Also, tell him I'll give him money and my ECU in trade for his ECU

Intrestingly enough; 95 Eprom Ecu was the first thing i had ever bought for my car. other then gas. yet, it still sits in my closet collecting dust.

Re: SAFC II problems

It would suck to order one and get a non-eprom ECU worth about 50 bucks
