2000 Expedition rough starting, usually first start of the day
I have a 2000 expedition, triton v8, and we have been having problems with the initial start of the day. It does not happen all of the time. Lately it is getting more frequent. When we start it it will not idle unless you really press the gas and rev it. We then sneak it into gear and go. This works and once it is going, we are set. But, if we let it sit at 1,000 rpms (usually at idle it is at 1,000) It seems to respond to techroline, but not 100% sure and, if it does, which it seems to, it is not for long. The best relief that we got recently, for about a month, was to run a fuel injector cleaner through it at the local oil change place and have the fuel filter changed, but it is back and it is getting worse. Took it to a local guy and he said that he needed to see the problem actually happen. Any suggestions? It is periodic, but once it starts, the techroline seems to help. Thanks.

Look closely at the idle speed control motor. These get gummed up and will not work properly.

Thanks for the response. Where is the idle control motor located? THanks.

Re: 2000 Expedition rough starting, usually first start of the day
Should he located on top of the motor attached to the throttle body. It will probably be silver in color, about 3 inches long, about 1 3/4 inches in diameter with a hose about 1 inch in diameter going to it and a wiring connection. If your engine has a little plastic cover on top, you may need to remove it to see the motor. It is held on by 2 8mm headed bolts.
