Really? Damn, I just bought this paint for my viper and I didn't know I need a basecoat :-(

I just finish the Ford F-150 Lightning myself and it was a nice kit, fitment was good. I got some problems with the hood who don't close very well but that's all. I only changed the wheels because I don't really like them.

Nice work, the paint looks great!

Re: Ford F-150 Lightning

thanks!

SupaMan98T - lol i just cut some plastic off a straw and stuck it on cuz the exhaust on the kit is like... small...

patoffspyder - i highly highly highly recommend a silver or metallic basecoat of somesort. i think silver will be the best because silver is a very universal base coat/color coat. the anodized color is supposed to go over a metallic surface, such as chrome, but i just used silver. beware: it is extremely hard to get this paint to look good. i already stripped it once, almost did it again today. go with lighter coats and then depending on the look you want, you should decide whether or not you need a wet coat. mist coats will get you a light see-through to the silver of the anodized color you choose. wet coats will give you a very faint metal flake. i had a problem with the paint fogging sometimes. if this happens just go over it lightly a couple of times. i also have that hood problem. argh. about a 1-2 mm gap between the bumper and the hood.

Re: Ford F-150 Lightning

Good start. Personally, I think the tips are too big, but if they work for you then great. I used some aluminum tubing and it came out okay. I like the color, looks a lot like mine. Sonic Blue is just too hard to capture, but this is a close substitute.

very nice! i just bought that kit maybe a week or two ago... 50% off coupon from AC Moore, so I had to buy a model of some kind.

any problems you see so far with the fitment or anything like that? i'm planning on painting mine with a blue base (probably) and a testors spray called transparent candy grape. who knows how it will come out but it soudned liked a cool color for the car.

Re: Ford F-150 Lightning

thanks for the comments everyone!

redstang423 - the only fitment problems i had with this kit were just the body. the hood, bumpers, and sideskirts didn't fit well. neither did the two main body pieces. the sideskirts take some work. you may end up having to cut off the guide pieces they give you on the pieces. civichic gave me some tips in a thread i made in the main forum. search Hobby Lobby and you should find a thread that says something like Hobby Lobby is my favorite store.
