A few newbie questions

Hello,
I just purchased a 4.8 00 K1500 ext cab sportside and I have few questions about somethings. I'm sure you guys will help. I want to install a trans cooler and trans temp gauge. I was reading that I could get an escalade gauge set that already has the trans gauge in it but I don't need all of that. I was hoping to just get one that mounts to the A post. Is there already a spot on the trans to screw in the temp sender unit ? 2 more questions, I have the tow package with the 7 blade round trailer wiring connector. I assume there must be a brake controller connector someplace in the cab if it came with the 7 blade connector, any idea where it lives ? Last question, it's not a big deal but the light behind the AC button is out. I took the unit apart hoping to find plugin lamps but instead found small soldered lamps directly on the circuit board. Any idea where to buy these little guys ?

You can get a regular cluster with the temp gauge for around $200 shipped: eBay auction

Or you can buy an autometer gauge from Summit Racing for around $60, but you will have to hook it up. You will need a pod to hold it as well. A single pod costs about $30.

I can't answer your second question.

There are a couple of threads that deal with changing the lights out with LEDs. Here is one of the threads. I imagine that you can pick up the lights at radioshack, or some other variant.

The LED idea is great, I'll look into getting a few of them and doing the swap. I know the trans has a built-in temp gauge but does it have a location for a screw in temp sender for an autometer type gauge ?

I installed a cyberdyne digital tranny temp gauge in the pillar pod. There is a place to screw in the sender in the plugged off port right above the shift linkage on the driver side. My tranny temps are right on with Autotap, so its an accurate location.

The Pics aren't the greatest but, checkout the pics in my Gallery it shows the control unit apart and where I put the LEDs in. It's been over a year since I did that and the LEDs are still burning bright Blue...
