Tamiya's BMW M635CSI

Hi,

I just got an offer; I can get a Tamiya BMW 635CSI kit for 80 euros... I think the price is ridiculous to be honest. I like the car, but 80 euros seems a bit much to me...

Is the Tamiya 6er some kind of super-rare and very sought after kit, like the Tamiya Prelude or the Revell Corrado?

Does sound crazy - I bought this kit second hand and paid about 20 euros total.

Thanks for replying.

Ales: I don't think it is available on Hobby Search, I looked but the only thing close to it was the Gr. A version. Which is not what I'm looking for.

Talking of this kit, was there two versions from Tamiya of the road version? I know of the race spec, as well the road version, but was there not another updated version with a new model number? Or was there only ever one?

Yep, there's the Motorsport (M) version and the regular version.

The Tamiya Prelude is a super-rare kit??

I think so, since I know of people who have paid somewhat like 50 euros for them.

I'm pretty sure that the only kits of the 6 series body style that Tamiya released were the 635Csi Group A Spa winner (rereleased a couple of years ago), and the M635Csi (M6) road car. With both kits, you could combine them to make a road non M 635 Csi (and a racing M6 ), but I don't think Tamiya ever bothered to- the street 635 wouldn't have sold well.

I thought so, I have the road M version. Still a smart looking car, and I still favor the older style BMW to the newer shapes. I'm saving my M6 till I have built some more kits..

I so totally agree! The new 6 series seems to have none of the grace or elegance (or anything else) of its namesake. I always loved the way the old six looked. I have the M635 kit, too- hopefully it won't be too long before I get to it.

Black. I think I'm going to do it in black....

Re: Tamiya's BMW M635CSI

80 Euros is waaaaay over priced. It pops up on eBay with some regularity. Thee are only two versions as mentioned, the race spec and M spec road car.

for your info guys there were 2 models from tamiya as:-

24058 BMW M635CSi

24061 BMW 635CSi Group A Racing

the racer uses most parts from the M635, the M badge on the grill is hidden by the driving/spot lights and the raised outline on boot lid is removed/shaved off

hope u liked the pics
