Reving Issues when starting car

Golf 2002 2.0 automatic

Whenever I start the car in the morning and rev the engine it stutters at a low rev but then is ok after 3-4 secs. this happens for like 5 mins when the car starts (only when pressing on the accelerator from idle) and after that the car revs normally even at low revs.

Any pointers, read something about ignition coils could be the issue?

Why do you rev the engine when you first start it up?

Re: Reving Issues when starting car

I dont mean to rev it, but when i put it into drive i have to hit the accelerator and the car chokes little because of the issue. So now when i start the car I rev it to get rid of the stutter before i drive off.

check ur ventilation pipes connecting from intake, valve cover , and block (black piping) connected to the saucer thing. if theyre cracked your idle can be rough.
