Re: dual exhaust

also is there anyway to get a performance muffler that will add more power but w/o being so loud?

Dual exhaust is usually only good on engines with two exhaust manifolds or headers. It is probably better to use a single outlet exhaust with a larger diameter pipe (around 2"-2 1/2") on a 4 cyl. with only one manifold or header. Flowmaster makes a few mufflers that are quiet until you really get on the accelerator. F.Y.I. exhausts don't "make" horsepower, they free up horsepower out of the engine by reducing drag and resistance.

Re: dual exhaust

exhaust tuning is different per engine. in the case of the saturn 1.9L a dual exhaust does nothing performance wise, however it can affect the exhaust sound.

a second muffler would need welded in like so- http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...p?photo=29080&

every muffler is unique in both preformance and sound. they even sell mufflers with removible silancer. i personially whent with a cheapo 2.5" turbo cheery bomb from autozone. a little power is freed up with out a lot of extra sound.

that depends on how you define "make" and "free up". having a non resticrive exhaust is one thing, but with proper tuning of tube length and diameter to a certain RPM range and heat transfer, the exhaust system can make power. (using reflective pluses to "pull" exhaust gases out of the combustion chamber and pull intake air in)

i would be very impressed if you could find a way to do it without welding

there is not enougth clearance over the rear axle for a second pipe, unless you would do a dual side exhaust.(not as easy as it sounds)
