Question Door Popper Solenoids

What is the minimum poundage for a door popper you guys would use. I'm thinkin 50lbs. to be safe but the 35 pounders seem like they would work too? Anyone have experience with either of these?

dont go with the 50lbs poppers. they can dent your door...ive seen it happen..not nice. the doors only weigh like 20lbs (horizontally on the hinge) so the 35 will do you just fine.

are they legal? i have a friend who put them in his car and he kept gettingt pulled over...i would make sure if they are legal in your area first. its a lot harder to put the handles back in than to take them out.

It's not illegal to have the door poppers, but it's illegal to shave your handles/locks if your using the car for anything other than show. It's because rescue personel wouldn't be able to open your door in an emergency situation...

Lightbulb door poppers

If the doors are locked, it would be almost as hard to get the doors open in a emergency situation also. Double check on shaved handles being illegal.

Yeah but you know how lawmakers are. At least if the door was locked they could break glass to get it unlocked. But it might be hard to pull a door out if there is no handle...

Ive heard all you need for most imports is a 12 lbs solenoid to pop the doors.

well there is still a working handle on the inside of the door so the breaking glass thing would seem to still work...it would actually be easier, they wouldnt have to unlock it...just pull the handle. cos you never really lock your doors with poppers...no need to. and the only way to break into the car is to break the window completely...no more slim jim! it would actually be like a theft deterent.

so if you want your windows just use that last bit of energy to push the button down. but i think it's still illegal.
