GTO/ F body engine swap?

my knowledge on the subject is laughable but I know the GTO had a mean 5.7 (350 horses I beleive) would that fit into a 4th gen F body? and is the latest 400 horse GTO still a 5.7?

It'd be easier to freaking get a used 98+ Z28 or SS Camaro since it has the same engine and 20-50 less horsepower

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

The GTO has the vette LS1 which honestly is nearly the same performance as the f-body LS1... so for probably cheaper find a motor out af a 98-02 z28, ss, trans am, formula, or firehawk and use that

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

If it is an LS1, it is roughly the same power, regardless of the rating.
LS1 is the 5.7.
The new GTO gets the LS2.
LS2 is a 6.0.

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

because GTO power = LS1 power = gto, vette, f-body power

Well its not just the power you're getting with the GTO, i've heard its a smoother ride, almost like the vette but cheaper and obviously without the awesome suspension.

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

Having driven both a reasonable degree, it's nothing you can't get out of an f-body

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

I was just wondering cause I love the old F-bodies and the GTO looks pretty ugly, but it is somewhat faster, considerably faster with the ls2, but I guess that wouldnt fit. I know I'll never do that kind of swap, but I was just wondering if possible

Re: GTO/ F body engine swap?

The LS1 and the LS2 block are very close to identical.

The LS2 fits. Its the same swap as an LS1, the internals just have a longer stroke.
