focus upgrades?
i currently own a focus 1.8 zetec and am aware of the extensive work that needs doing if i want to install a turbo, i was just wondering if there were any quick cheap methods of upgrading the engine and overall performance of the car, without major cost being involved?

Re: focus upgrades?
Is this a Euro Focus? I'm not too familiar with the 1.8 Zetec, but the best place to start with almost all cars would be with a good intake and exhaust system to help the engine breath better.

naturally i didnt listen, and installed one anyway but it caused the car to almost gasp for air while driving in high revs, aswell as virtually doubling the fuel consumption. |

I can't see how a simple intake can cause a major problem. You bearly get any more air than stock, unless the factory one is THAT restrictive. So, how much hp does the 1.8 litre make? |

focus upgrades?
Quote:
only about 137 bhp, it still reaches 135mph and 0-60 in 9.5 seconds, when its supposibly 10.9 seconds. it also kept up with a Alfa 156 t-spark in a flat out race, which i was impressed with. the alfa pulled away shortly after 70mph but the opening was impressive. i am planning on selling it soon though to make way for my dream FTO, when my insurance comes down a bit :-s |
