Two Window Tinting Questions.

Hey all, Heres my latest batch of questions.

First off: Does anybody know what the stock window tint percentage is on the rear windows of a 2000 Blazer LS?

And secondly: Is it illegal to tint the front windows even slightly? I would like to get my driver and passenger windows tinted. But I hear its illegal.

Sorry if there has been topics like this in the past. I am running out to pick up some dinner and diddn't really have time to search. Thanks

I had a civic that I tinted with 5% limo black (blocks 95% of light) all around when I lived in Georgia and had no problems. I would shoot people birds in the daytime and they couldnt see. A/C worked perfectly on the lowest setting thus saving gas. I moved to NY and my sister who is a lawyer suggested removing all the tint to avoid being pulled over and possibly shot. I checked the ny dmv website and what it basically said was "front tint must not block more than 15% of the light, back tint can be whatever you want provided you have both your rear view mirrors". I removed the front tints and was never pulled over but I still had privacy in the back seat. To be safe I suggest do not tint the front windows and go as dark as possible on the back. the cooling effect should be the same. If you are worried about sun on your dash and seats use a shade. Dont give the pigs another reason to pull you over.
