Unhappy over heating

i have a 1992 z28 and it always runs hot?? what is the normal temperature for this model?? the mechanics all say 220 is normal?? too hot for me. any suggestions?

lower temp thermostat will get the water running earlier and should keep it cooler... Jet makes a chip that turns on fans earlier to help keep it cooler too... You might have a gunked up radiator? Maybe get a flush...

thanks.. i have a 195 in there now, what do you suggest?? i have a new 3 core all metal radiator, should be ok????

220 is normal. And actually that's controlled temp where the fan(s) don't even kick on until 230-240.

I have a 180 stat and so long as the car is moving,
It never exceeds around 190. In traffic, well I see the above.

Don't forget aobut your radiator cap either! Although you said you got a new rad. which assume came with one.

go with a 180, 160 is probably too low.
