Hello all. I have a 2000 Cav base model with a 2.2 and an auto. It is also a coupe.
I bought it used for $1,500 with 61,000 miles. First thing I did was replace ALL the motor mounts. The car runs perfectly........except for this freaking clickity-click noise. Let me explain. It only makes a noise when you take off from a dead stop. It only does it if you take off slow. If you take off fast, it does not make any noise. I have checked EVERYTHING. It is not the CV joints as it makes this noise in a strait line, or turning left or right. It doesn't matter. Once you get up to about 10-12 MPH, it stops. It really sounds like a relay clicking. I can't tell if it is comming out of the front or rear of the car. I have checked my wheels, my lug nuts, wheel covers; everything. I'm to the point that I am about to take it to the dealer so they can rape me. Anyone else have this "clicking" problem at low speeds? Regards, The Nightmare..... |

Re: Clicking noise at very low speeds. Anyone else have this problem?
ok if your ABSOULETLY sure there is no damage to your CV's try my favorite diagnosis, First put the car on blocks all the way arround and make sure its secure then have a friend crank er up and run it in first gear if you have a manual other wise just go really slow if your a/t. just remember to pouint the car somwhere that if it manages to get off the blocks it wont hit anything axcept a neighbors dog maybe. good luck
