Angry Clickity-click noise is driving me nuts! Help?

Hello all. I have a 2000 Cav base model with a 2.2 and an auto. It is also a coupe.

I bought it used for $1,500 with 61,000 miles. First thing I did was replace ALL the motor mounts. The car runs perfectly........except for this freaking clickity-click noise.

Let me explain. It only makes a noise when you take off from a dead stop. It only does it if you take off slow. If you take off fast, it does not make any noise.

I have checked EVERYTHING. It is not the CV joints as it makes this noise in a strait line, or turning left or right. It doesn't matter. Once you get up to about 10-12 MPH, it stops. It really sounds like a relay clicking. I can't tell if it is comming out of the front or rear of the car.

I have checked my wheels, my lug nuts, wheel covers; everything. I'm to the point that I am about to take it to the dealer so they can rape me.

Anyone else have this "clicking" problem at low speeds?

Regards, The Nightmare.....

Hmmm........I suspect the inner CV joints.
Often the outer ones vary their noise as you turn the steering wheel, but the inner ones are not affected by wheel pisition. But is they are loose, they would be affected by engine load.

If this is the case, IMHO go for a pair of rebuilt half shafts, so all 4 cv jointsw will be new.
