what the crap?

ok so I have a wierd problem that I can't figure out an explanation for. right about when the turbo starts to spool I hear this rush of air under the hood(and no, not the turbo spooling, it is 10 times louder and doesn't sound the same) and I basically lose all power at that point... I can't find any loose hoses or anything, all the fasteners seem to be tight and in place... oh and then this morning I started it and it just kind of putted and died.... then I started it again and held the gas a little to keep it going but then the idle was jumping a lot... looks like another trip to the shop

Re: what the crap?

I don't know where all the lines are... I looked around for like 5 minutes and couldn't really find anything obvious

Re: what the crap?

ok so I think I found the problem... well I have some emmissions stuff taken off by the previous owner so I'm not sure what hooks up to this little thing but me and my buddy think it is supposed to connect to the radiator and run water around the engine or whatever. well the rubber cover that was blocking it off cracked and it was sucking in air. so I wrapped it with some electrical tape until I can get to O'Reilys and see if they have another one...

Re: what the crap?

a coolant hose sucking in air?
Umm you may want to have that looked at RIGHT NOW. If anythig a coolant hose shoudl spit coolant, not suck in air. LOL

Sounds like a vacume leak to me. Check the vacume youare getting at idel. Compare it to speck. Sounds almost like you blew a chunk out of your UIM gasket and developed a leak. Car will still run, but under boost it makes ALOT of noise (rushing air).

Re: what the crap?

it is on the UIM, I don't know what it is but I just put a new rubber cap on it and the problem seems to be fixed.

Re: what the crap?

vacume nipple, make sure that the cap you used will hold up, otherwise take a short peice of hose and put a bolt with a small hose clamp on it.
