problem with 4 track tape player

Hi everybody. Lil'Lena. I would appreciate any help any one could offer concerning my 4 track tape player. Radio works fine. Yet my tape unit will not run or play a tape. What do any of you think the problem could be. Or is it just trashed. Thanks, Lil Lena. My car is a buick LeSabre, yr 1999.
