Re: intake

opinion
if you have the money laying around, get the cold air
for the extra $$$ it costs the benefits are negligible(sp?)

since aftermarket intakes dont have proper reducers in them, the best (most efficient) intake you can buy is one that is the same diameter inside as your TB and as short and straight as possible. there is some benefit to buying CAIs but those are minimal and IMO not worth the extra 100$$ they usually charge. if you can fashion a method to reduce intake temps(i.e. by heatwrapping your headers, intake tube, section off your filter, ect.) you will get cold enough air that it wont make a diff if its coming from the fender or not(actually it will because the shorter tube will give you less restriction and more efficiency)

Re: intake

Leave it hooked up. That sensor is your MAF and your car will run like shit without it.

Re: intake

CAI stands for cold air intake and if it rains alot you don't want a cold air intake b ecause the whole point of a cold air intake is it brings cold air from the outside and if your getting alot of rain where you live than that causes a pretty big problem. I'm kinda skeptical about it but I'v been told by people who work for nissan performance mag so I took their advice

Re: intake

Yeap, I live in CO so I would NEVER get a CAI. Like I said, short-rams sound better. If you get a short ram, it's most likely gonna come with an adapter that you fit onto the MAF.

Here's how it goes(starting with the Throttle body on down)

Short-ram without tube:
stock rubber tube->MAF->Air Filter housing

Short-ram with tube:
replace stock rubber with SR tube->MAF->Filter

CAI with one tube section:
Stock rubber tube->MAF->CAI tube->Filter

CAI with 2 tube sections:
Replace rubber with CAI tube->MAF->2nd CAI tube->Filter

Re: intake

most intakes dont come with a hole for the air temp sensor so just leave it hooked up and ziptie it down to something

Re: intake

I live in Aurora(suburb of Denver). Yeah, if your new intake tubing doesn't have hookups for the little air tube thingies, then don't even use the tubing. Use your stock tubing. The only one your intake tubing shouldn't have a hookup for is the MAF, because it will either hook up after the tubing or between both tubes.
