Considering S-er SPEC-v

hey everyone, im considering the nissan SE-R for my next car. I dont know much about cars..so thats why im here to ask and learn. I would be leaving behind a 95 grand am automatic w/ 150k miles for my next car. I have also been researchin the integra and possibly an eclipse but the sentra seems to appeal to me b/c not to many people around here have one. I would like a fun car to drive..but it will be my daily driver. All advice is appreciated and ill keep searching the forums..thx.

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

eclipses are soooo much easier to mod....i would go with the eclipse but sentra spec-v's are good cars to tune also....but the eclipse wins in all departments...1/4, handling, looks...etc....go with the eclipse

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

oooo a 240 is a whole different question now....i would definetely take a 240 over an eclipse anyday....even though they're a little slower than the turbo eclipse, 240s are easy to mod and are extremely fun to drive....plus for around 7,000 bucks you can get a cheap 240, put in an sr20det, and put some mods on your new engine....i would go for that...

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

With an SR20DET, 300HP is just a turbo, exhaust, intercooler and ECU away. Early SR20DETs were rated at 202 hp and used the desirable high-port head, with straighter intake runners and ultimately more power potential. Later engines used a low-port head, but added VTC variable intake cam timing and more boost for higher stock output. Any SR20DET has huge power potential. Plus S13 and S14 parts are interchangable making it an easily maintained car. I think the SE-R would beat the stock N/A S13 with the KA engine in it. But as far as i have seen if you put an SR20DET in that thing it should run under 15s EASY. What is interesting is that the S13 beats the SE-R to 60 but it has a horrible top end. Just ask Tat, he complains alot about the top end of his S13 but he has the KA engine in it.

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

No, the stock KA24DE in the 240 is the one will the crappy top end. If you put a DET in there, you have a nice peaky turbo with a powerful top end and a 7500rpm redline. And no, they are not hard to find. They cost between $2-3K and probably about another $1,000 to put it in, unless you do it yourself.

To be quite Honest man if you're having to ask if you can drift in it, then you prolly don't really need to be drifting at all. Can be a dangerous thing to do, and i don't just mean to you. Improperly, your looking at alot of serious car damage.

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

get the spec, f@ck the eclipse....do you wanna look like everyone else? plus the spec handles circles around the eclipse, with the r-tune suspension you can handle like an evo for around 900 bucks, and turbo it and you'll waste the eclipse turbo in the quarter, no reason to go shitsubishi

haha put down the SCC. this guy needs to hear about things from someone who knows firsthand.

240 is an excellent car but if you get an s13 its also an old car, and will need maintanence that a specV wont. stock for stock, a specV will beat a 240sx, but a 240 will easily take the spec if any corners are involved. if you want just straight top speed, just get a 91-93 eclipse AWD turbo. dollar for dollar very few cars can match the potential of that.

specV is way more practical choice, and you wont be disappointed in the speed, although people who say it can handle like an evo are smoking some really strong shit. there is NO WAY a specV, given equal mods + equal drivers, will outhandle a 240sx, or AWD eclipse, or evo, or an integra(GS-R or type R) or anything of the like. even an r-tune suspension would still leave it far behind a stock evo.

and dont get a 240 to drift. i can tell you will crash it and hurt yourself or someone else already. drifting is one of the hardest forms of motorsports. even the pros wreck their cars every couple events.

Re: Re: Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

wasnt comparing stock v to stock evo, the R-tune suspenion package puts the spec's slalom time only slightly behind the evo, anyone with a brain knows the evo would crush a stock spec, all i was saying is that the spec has huge handling potential and for very cheap could be very good on the track......

when you get your 240 monster going id like to see about that

Re: Considering S-er SPEC-v

Such hostility here. I think somebody needs a timeout. As far as getting a spec V, it's definately a good choice, I just got mine three days ago, and i'm going broke on the gas bill now. Its not that the gas mileage is bad, but can be if you don't learn what cruise control is. I just drive the hell out of it all the time, because I LOVE MY SPEC
