is chrysler the same as dodge??

hi i think its a stupid question myself but is chrysler the same company as dodge??, because the 426 hemi was made by chrysler but i went to the store and saw a model 426 hemi engine and it said dodge hemi so i was wondering why????

Well, Daimler-Chrysler (Daimler being Daimler-Benz, maker of Mercedes and others) is from the merger of Daimler-Benz, and Chrysler. Chrysler owns/owned Dodge, Jeep, Eagle, Isuzu (I think... not sure on this one), and a few others I'm not familiar with. So in effect, I think the answer is yes.

Well this is sorta how it goes:

Diamler-Chrysler (owns part of Mitsubishi):
Chrysler
Dodge
Jeep
Eagle (dead)
Plymouth (dead)

Diamler-Benz:
Mercedes
Maybach
Smart

And thought I know Chrysler doesnt own Isuzu, I think that Chrysler supplyed parts for Isuzus in the previous years. But GM also works with Isuzu, because the Trooper (I think thats the name) is basically a Chevy Trailblazer and the Isuzu pickup is basically a Chevy Colorado.

This is a coporate relationship like the Saab/Subaru companionship. Saab is owned by GM, whereas Subaru isnt. Another example is the VW/Porsche companionship. VW and Porsche worked with Porsche on the platform of the Toureg/Cayenne (and soon the Audi Q7. With the roumored Lamborghini SUV which can only exisit if Bentley makes an SUV too, all on the same platform).

Sorry to get off topic so much. But you could say that Chrysler owns all listed in the above list. And that is also why some current Chrysler AG vehicles (Dodge and Jeep) have previous-gen Mercedes parts.

Chrysler 300/ Dodge Magnum/ Dodge Charger has some previous gen E class suspention components. And I know that the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee has Mercedes parts, but I really couldent tell you off the top of my head. But since I have recently gotten a 2005 GC, could I say I drive a Mercedes?

That's a pretty good explanation. The Chrysler 300/ Dodge Magnum/ Dodge Charger design has really done well for this company. The Charger is out there right now picking up steam.
