burned wires,some advise please

ok,today its real hot here in boston and i was driving and my battery light went on but went away then as im driving my car dies,i try to start it and nothing no ticking noise nuthing,all the rest of the lights and stuff work ok but as i poped the hood i noticed these wires that are clipped on to the front of the valve cover that my intake are pressed against well the intake was mad hot and it looked like it melted the outer coating of those wires,so now the car wont turn over no tick no noise nuthin,any idea what this could be or why it wont start now or what those wires are for,thanks,,,ps. its a 98 gs auto thanks

In front of the valve cover on the intake side? Like right by the battery? You could have a major problem there. Do they go right to the battery?

If your starter is working (clicking) then your alternator, or battery is bad.

It could have crossed the wires and caused a short. Fix the wires and check all your fuses (i had a similar problem not too long ago)

i get no clicking,and the wires dont go directly to the battery they are closer to the other end of the intake near the filer but they clip to the front of the valve cover my machanic said he got it started when he jumped it but after he shut it off there was nuthing again

see in your sig right near the heat shield that clip,thats on top of the engine,those wires i cant take a pic cuase its at the shop
