Question new mgb owner

I recently bought a 79 MGB and there are some electrical issues with her, such as multiple shorts, and the radiator fan isnt working and i am missing the left one. The question that i have, would it be better to just take off all the electrical tape and buy some conduit and try and re-wire and verify everything?
thanks
Jason

Re: new mgb owner

Comapared to newer cars, the electrical system is easy to trace and repair. Make an enlarged copy of the wiring diagram. Start where the battery connects and physically trace each wire. Clean all connections. This may take you the whole weekend, but when you are finished and everything is correct you'll be done with the wiring for years. Use dielectric grease on all the connections, make sure they are secure.
If you need any kind of connectors try: britishwiring.com
moss motors (if you can find a local distributer, this may save you on shipping costs)
ebay.com (can be a good source for parts)
Home Depot sells tape to rewrap the wiring harness. It does not have any adhesive on it.
If you haven't aquired a repair manual yet, I reccommend the Bentley manual.
mgbexperience.com has a list of other books that are helpful in the repair and maintenance of your B.

Be sure to get yourself a complete set of tools, including pipeing wrenches, ignition stuff, etc.. You're going to need them. Good luck.
