96 Intrepid Back Up Light Problem
My back up lights won't come on. I have checked the bulbs, wires and everything is ok. I was told that the neutral saftey and back up switich is located on the tranny and that that could be the problem but I can't find it. Does anybody know how to get to it so that I can change it?

Re: 96 Intrepid Back Up Light Problem
your back-up light switch is incorporated into the valve body inside your transmission, called the Transmission Range Switch. Your best bet is to go to a transmission shop or back to Chrysler and let them replace it.

Re: 96 Intrepid Back Up Light Problem
if you've never done this before 2 to 3 hours the most. The thing you have to be careful with valve bodies, you can't torque them down hard, the most torque that can put on them is 10 lb. ft., the most. Also, see if you can obtain a diagram of the valve body. If you remove every bolt on the body itself, you'll seperate both halves of the valve body and you'll have check balls and springs galore falling out.
