Key will not come out of Ignition!!!

Hey all

The key in my 98' Aurora will not come out of the ignition. I bought my Aurora with this problem but I have still not got it fixed (mechanic said $200.00 or more and I said we'll wait).

Just wondering if anyone has ever had or seen this problem and how it was fixed

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Rick

the key in most modern automatic cars cannot be removed unless the transmission is set to park. either you have not set the transmission to park, or the electronics that govern the key and detect weather or not you are in park isn't working.

if it's $200 to fix this, get it done. i would feel very unsafe leaving the keys in the car.

Make sure the ignition swith is in the off position. It may not be locking right.

I've had the same dang problem. It actually happned at the deaership on the day that I brough the vehicle. Couldn't get the keey to come out. Dealership said that had it all fixed, but it still does it. I've noticed, though, that it only happened on days where the inside of the car it hot. I can usually get it out by cycling the gears of the car a few times. Also noticed that when I get it out after this happens, the key is close to 140 degrees. Glad I'm not the only one who has had this problem.
