Unhappy Just cranks no start need help!!!

I recently was given a 95 ford escort. I was told that it had not been run in about 2 years. I replaced the battery but now it cranks and wont start . I checked the valve on the fuel rail and there is no pressure at all. The motor is a 1.9 liter SEFI 4 cyl. I am lost and would love it if someone could point me in the right direction. Also if it is any help the fusable link for the fuel injection was blown. I changed that and still nothing.

Are you sure there's plenty of gas in it?

You can hear the fuel pump running. With the back seat out you should here it run for a second when you first turn the key on.

Two of the wires coming out of the fuel pump are for the fuel gage. I'm guessing the two for the fuel pump will be thicker.

Have you checked the inertia cut-off switch?

first you need to conferm you have gas getting to the injectors. Then if so check your getting spark also at the pllugs. a quick way to tell if you havea fuel delivery problem is spray carb clleaner down the throttle body and if it runs for a few seconds it will tell you a fuel problem. And give you a start point where to look.

The clutch is hydraulic and self-adjusting. How did you get it started? What is the clutch doing? Not disengaging? Maybe try bleeding it.

I went down to the parts yard and got the clip that hooks to the ground on the battery and i hooked it up because they had it hooked up and i did not and it started right up. Im bummed about the clutch. it grabs so you can decellerate but when you push the gas it slips like hell.

I did just add 1000 watts of boom to it and i will fix it on monday at the shop. how long is it going to take? and is it really hard to do? well i reserved a lift at work so i hope it will be easier that way. ill post a new thread when its finished on monday.

Re: Just cranks no start need help!!!

It's a piece of cake if you've got a lift. You have to remove the clutch line and the speedometer cable, the starter, the crossmember, the mounts, and the axles. Remove the 2 upper and 5 lower bolts to the engine. You'll need to support the engine and insert plugs into the driveaxle gears so they don't fall out. Short lengths of broomhandles will work. You got a good deal on the clutch kit. It should take about 2 hours to get it off. About 1/2 hour to install the clutch. About 3 hours to get the tranny back in. It's not hard to do if you have a can do attitude. You won't have any trouble at all since you have a lift.
