Question fallen shifter

I have purchased a 91 scort gt that has multiple probs, one of which is the shifter has fallen below the floor. It looks like it is missing a part from inside the cabin but I'm not sure, if you have any info, plz post....thx for your time

Re: fallen shifter

Here is a link that should help to figure out what you need to do.

http://www.projectmazda.com/howto/shifter/

Don't worry the scort and the mazda are primarily the same car, so what you see is what you get.

The main part you need is a dealer only part so go to your local Ford dealer and order a shifer assembly it will be a little costly but well worth it.

I just did this to mine about 3 months ago and it works like its a brand new car.

Re: fallen shifter

no dude hes wrong your bracket that bolts to the body is completley rotted or stripped out it happends when your motor mounts get old then the engine/tranny moves alot more witch causes the shifter to come apart from the body this happend to me on like 2 of my escorts all i did was just push it back up and drill like 4 self tappers into the bracket under the car into the body i have not had it drop on me yet and i reeef on my scorts

so you dont need to know how to replace the shifter you just need to bolt it back in place its easy

one question can you still shift like does the shifter still work ?

and can you put in back in place by pulling upward on the shift knob? cause if you can than this is what you should do hopefully it helps ya out

peace
