What happened to all the used cars?

With all of the incentives last month I thought there was supposed to be a glut of used cars. When I drive around to the dealerships, they have just a few used ones out front and the back lot for trade-ins is empty at some dealers. The want ads in the local paper seem to have far less used listings too. Are they all sitting at the auto auction?

Thanks

Re: What happened to all the used cars?

Dealerships tend to keep only the high dollar, newer (often less than 5 years old) used cars at their lots. All the older stuff goes to auction or to other used lots, away from the dealers.

IMHO the real glut of used cars will be found in the classifieds. Lots of people who have bought new cars will sell the old ones privatly, because dealers are pretty cheap on trade in allowances, if they are selling heavily discounted new cars.
