Im looking for 2 things
I need a rear stock turbo from a VR4 in good condition, for my Spyder Project. I need a 6 Speed "Get-Rag" Tranny from a 94 through 99 VR4, for my 92 VR4.

Re: Need These Parts (Texas)
what's wrong with your stock 5speed tranny on your 92? or do you just want the extra 6th gear for gas mileage?

Re: Need These Parts (Texas)
oh, well i think all the tranny's, 5 and 6 speeds, are made by Getrag. but the 6 speed is "stronger" in because it has a 25-spline output shaft, whereas the 5 speeds only have an 18-spline output shaft.
However, someone correct me if i'm wrong, i believe in the 92.5 and 93 year cars those 5 speeds had a 25 spline??? (maybe i'm thinking of the 4 bolt main they switched to in those 2 years)

Re: Need These Parts (Texas)
my 92 has a 4 bolt main so mabey i do have the 25 spline output... i always thought mine was the reg 2 bolt but when i did some engine work i noticed i had the 4 bolt main which confused me cause i thought all 91-92 had the 2 bolt...

Re: Need These Parts (Texas)
no, you're right. 91-92 did have the 2 bolt main. but in 92.5 (half way through the 92 production year) they released cars with a 4 bolt main, along with other changes. i dunno why they made these changes halfway during a production year. guess they just couldn't wait until the 93 production year. but i'm not sure about when the 25-spline began, but i know for a fact that 94+ have the 25 spline 6 speed.
so your car must be a 92.5 production car, or at least your engine is.

Re: Need These Parts (Texas)
All the trans's and T-cases are made by Getrag, pronounced G Trag
The 91-93 Trans is stronger, the cast aluminum T-case is shit. The 92.5-93 at least has the 25 spline OS, but is still cast auminum. Slickwheel on 3si is currently making a billet steel T-case for 1st gens, which would made the drivetrain pretty much indestructable. The 6 speed tranny is weeker than the 5 speed, but it gets the cast iron front casing on the T-case so the 6 speed setup's can generally take more punishment. Both of those being said, solid or poly mounts go a long way in saving your t-case. When your stock mounts start to wear out your T-case can actually slam into the rear cross member in the engine bay and crack it.
