Convertible Top

I need o replace my 1997 Sebrings top. The guy here in town wants $500. I can buy one for $200. How hard is this to replace? Does anyone have instructions?

Thanks!

Re: Convertible Top

I have never done it myself, but have looked into several times. Most all of the feedback I have gotten is that is is a REAL pain to do if you have never done it before.

Yeah, that's kinda what I expected. Talked to a guy from AutoTops (top seller). He said "if you are handy with tools you should be able to do this".
He also said I would need a heavy duty staple gun. I have NO idea what part of the top gets stapled on. You?
This seems rather LOW tech to me.

I will be needed a top soon and love doing my own work, but this is one job I am willing to pay an expert to do. For this one, I will find an experienced, reputable installer who knows what to watch out for during the installation and who will stand behind the work if something goes wrong, like a leak! This is my fourth convertible – a top that leaks will cost far more than the few dollars I might save doing it myself.
