sunfire mileage

I have about 90,000 miles on my 1998 pontiac sunfire, does anyone think I can count on another 50,000 miles safely?

I got 90000 miles on my engine now and it seems to be running great. I have had a lot of transmission trouble and am now having problems with sensors. Probably my own doing since I lowered the car.

140,000 on my 98 currently. No major problems other than the ac taking a crap and I think I have a very small coolant leak. Oh, and the wonderful heating up at stop lights problem that another person mentioned. It never actually overheats just runs a lil hotter than normal until I start driving again, so I'm not really all that concerned.

my 97 heats up in traffic as well... I figured it was just the fan comming on once it reaches a certain temp because it never goes beyond a certain line

229,000 miles on my 96. Commute 90 miles round trip a day to work and Im not worried about it in the least. Had the A/C compressor go out as well as the starter and altenator. Not enought to complain considering the mileage. I dont think you have much to worry about if your at 90K.

I have a 193,000 on my 97. No problems, runs great. Did replace AC compressor, water pump and alternator. Still has original battery, hoses and exhaust. I have owned it since 10,000 miles

Re: sunfire mileage

I have 250,000 on my 2000, had a problem when I drove 15 miles with no timing chain, Blew that engine, having problems with the tranny since the new engine, It still ran like a beast until it stopped going forward, but it is still a great car, both my older sister and I learned to drive on this car and a 91 jeep, The jeep now looks down from the heavens, the sunfire is headed to the shop this weekend after 5 months of nobody having a clue whats wrong.
(wish her luck, after this trip it'll be the drive-in of doom)

Re: sunfire mileage

I just bought a '97 sunfire just last week 02/16/06 it has over 135,000 miles on it, it runs like new and it looks like new. The only problem that I'm having now is the headlights, its always dim, high beam doesn't stay ON. This could be a DRL problem.
