Tranny Pan

I was looking on ebay for shift kits and servos and what not for when the v8 goes in next spring to beef it up and i came across some pans some chrome some not that had a drain plug in them.Would this be a good idea because i am gonna buy a pan because current one all caked in oil and i figured if its gonna come down for the shift kit and valves and what not that i should throw a new pan on.I know it would make fluid service easier but wanted some opinions.

Also in the hunt for a cooler but am gonna wait to see what clearance is left when motor is in. I am assembling pages of part numbers,

Its cheaper to buy a roll of paper towels and some degreaser. I would be leary of a tranny pan with a drain plug. If you lose the plug for any reason you are going to lose your transmission 20 minutes later. And chroming the underside of a truck is just plain silly.

Re: Tranny Pan

I was just saying instead of goin through the hassle since if your just dropping the fluid because you can not get it all out with out a power flush it would be easier plus mine is covered in everything and with the motor i am gonna need to get into the tranny to beef it up

It would be nice to have a drain plug like that. Maybe if it was on the side of the pan, I would be less leary of it. I guess the odds are low that the plug would ever break off or cause any problems. And it is shiny. I'm not sure if I personally would pay $24 bucks for it though.

Re: Tranny Pan

But its probally on the bottom maybe because of tightening it on the side might cause the pan to warp and leak
