truck not starting without pouring gas in intake
Alright I might buy this truck if I can figure out what's wrong with it. The owner said that it won't start if unless you pour gas in the intake. After that it runs fine until you turn it off again. I need to figure this out
It's a 98 chevy 1500 but it has the 4.3L in it so I thought I'd have the best luck here. I can't get help anywhere else I go so if anyone knows anything at all it would help. Thanks. |

does the truck seem like the battery might be low causing the voltage to the fuel pump to drop when you turn the key? also can you hear the pump in the tank run when you turn the key on? check starter wires and battery cables sounds like you arnt getting enough juice to the pump but after it starts the alternator takes over and gives it the power it needs

It'll fire everything off except the injectors when you crank it. When you manually get gas into the cylinder it will crank and then the injectors will start pumping. Fuel pump works, took it off of the filter and it pumped it everywhere. changed filter so it's almost definitely in the injectors. Someone said something about fuel metering valve. I don't know what that is though.
