Anyways ... enjoy.

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

Looks good. What kind of numbers are you hoping for? Have you done much for traction?

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

I'm looking for around 300 whp. The only thing I've done for traction is the LSD but I will be shopping around for some stock evo wheels and tires for more traction and to clear my front brembos that I have waiting to go on.

300 whp isn't optimistic at all. I'll be running 10 psi. There is a turbo 3G with the same mods as me running 8 pounds down in florida and is making 295 whp and 319 wheel torque. http://www.club3g.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37398 Here is that dyno chart.

The turbo I am running is a turbonetics T3/T4 .63 A/R turbine. I believe it is a 60 trim compressor wheel but I don't remember the exact specs.

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

what kind of work did the engine require to get it ready for the turbo?

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

Looks pretty sweet man. Hope you don't grenade anything running that much boost though. What compression are you running?

beautiful. I love seeing Turbo 3g's out there. Everytime I see one it restores my faith in the eclipse (which was lost post DSM era)

i don't think the engien will nuke itself. my car has been running a bone stock internal engine for over 2 years and over 40K miles. and i'm running more boost then him now. its all up to the tuning of the engine. the most critical things are the fuel maps and ignition timing maps. if they are done conservatively like with the afr in the 11's and turning back total timing under wot for .75 degrees per psi of boost he should be fine.

Next on my list!

I'm still running on stock internals. Stock compression is 9:1. 10 psi is still safe on stock internals. I'll eventually build the motor but for now I'm gonna run this setup for a little bit.

wow your compression is that low? even our trucky KA's have a 9.5:1 compression ratio stock. a 9:1 compression ratio is perfect for a turbo.

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

Good luck running that thing for very long at 10 psi. Every other 3G owner that turbo's sticks to 8.5 to avoid detonating their engines. Our stock internals are WEAK. Especially the pistons. Seriously, without a good build-up, turn down the boost from 10 to 8.5. You're engine will thank you.

Re: 3G eclipse under the knife

Weak internals do not cause detonation. Shitty tuning and parts cause detonation. 9:1 CR is not too high for forced induction. And in that respect, 10.5:1 isn't too high. The only thing a higher compression ratio means is that tuning is much more important and that you will need a very efficient intake cooling setup AKA very nice intecooler and/or water injection. A properly sized turbo is key as well.
