Fuel pump strainer

I have a 1996 GMC yukon 5.7L. Has anybody heard of 2 different fuel strainers on the fuel pump assmbly/module?

I know of the strainer that attaches to the bottom of the assembly. I had my truck in for repair and the mechanic said there was a second strainer that lies in between the fuel pump itself and the fuel pump assembly...he even showed me the two strainers that he replaced on my truck. The second strainer was pretty much clogged up.

Yes there are 2 of them one is inside the sending unit and one on the outside
