really need your alls help. I had been doing a lot of research in the sr20det in a S14. But the problem is i had written down all this crap i needed to know and sites, now i seem to have missed placed it. SO I NEED YOUR (YES YOU) HELP!!!
-What do you get with a swap package? (sites would be great) (normally i've found they come with Engine, turbo, ecu, trans wiring harness) -Do i need an innercooler or does it come with one? -Down pipe, where to get it? -Any mods needed for it to line up with my exaust? -Should i not get the ecu and go strait for the Wolf ecu? -Are there any major differences in swapping the SR into a S14 than an s13? Any recomendations on where to buy one? Shouldn't this be a sticky or a FAQ kinda thing? Thanks for all your help guys and gals. |

Ok, most companies sell the "complete" motor. Which will most of the time include the following : (this list was borrowed from srswap.com)
-Top Engine Harness -ECU engine harness -ECU -Lower Engine / transmission harness -Power Steering pump -Power Steering high pressure Line -Power Steering reservoir if SOHC car, DOHC has correct reservoir -Alternator - can use some DOHC KA Alternators -Starter -AC compressor -Ignitor Chip and assembly -Wastegate solenoid controller -Turbo inlet pipe -Turbo outlet pipe -Canister -Engine mounts -MAFS - SOHC can be wired to work -Turbo -Wastegate actuator -Cam Angle Sensor -Throttle Body -Turbo exhaust outlet extension -Bell housing bolts So most of the time the engine will come complete with everything. Some things like the AC compressor are not always included, but you can use the AC compressor from the KA24DE on your SR if you don't get an SR compressor. The KA24E compressor will not work at all with the SR. Power steering lines are also sometimes missing from the engine, but you can use the power steering lines from the KA24DE. They have said in magazines and all that it's always better to purchase a front clip (complete car from A-Pillar forward) because they don't take the engine out of the car for you and they will leave everything in there for you to take out. They generally cost more but can save you time in ordering missing parts or searching junkyards for parts that you need. You will need some sort of an intercooler. Most of the time it's not included when you buy the complete engine but if you buy a front clip then it should come with the stock side mount intercooler. This intercooler is very small compared to most of the FMIC. If you plan on raising your boost over the stock 7psi then it would be a good idea to go ahead and purchase a FMIC instead of just using the stock side mount intercooler. The side mount can be used if you leave boost at the stock setting though. Downpipes are also another common part that is missing from the engines. You can buy these at a lot of places. www.greddy.com stocks the SR20DET downpipe here in America so there will be no waiting time, instead of having it shipped over from japan. No mods needed to get it to line up. The S13 chassis in japan is the same as our S13 chassis so it will all line up right. I've heard that the JWT ecu is a very good upgrade for the SR. The stock one is fine though. You can decide if you want it or not depending on your budget. There's not much of a difference in putting an SR into the S14 chassis than the S13 chassis. Just make sure that you use the S14 engine mounts. you can buy SR20DET's at the following places: www.srswap.com www.unstable-hybrids.com http://infinitemotorsports.net http://www.jspecauto.com http://www.venus-auto.com (currently under construction) those are just a few places to buy them. just search the internet and you will find a lot of places. Also you can ask around town and find people that have done this swap and ask them where they got theirs. Go to some shops near you and see if they sell them. also I see them for sale a lot on www.ebay.com although I wouldn't buy one from ebay because most of the time no gaurantee is offered so you can't be sure on what your getting. And yes I agree, we should make a FAQ that everybody should read first before they ask a question because a lot of questions get asked that have been asked and answered before. Hope this helps a little
