just a dumb question.
I have a 1985 S10 Blazer 4WD with a carbed 2.8L , the engine has a loud "knocking" noise ( sounds like a brick in a dryer). Does the carbed engine have a anti-knock sensor? It sounds like a connecting rod or main bearing is bad. The noise only gets louder not faster at higher rpms
Thanks in advance for any help |

Re: just a dumb question.
Does it shake ? Is it automatic ? can youuse a rubber hose to your ear to try to pin point where the sound is strongest at . If it does not increase with engine speed , I dont think it would be a connecting rod . Maybe an exhaust leak near the firewall that makes it sound louder. Don't know about the sensor. Rob

Re: just a dumb question.
it does not shake ,it is an auto, and the noise is coming from right side of engine ,torque converter is a better answer than replacing or even rebuilding the eng. thanx you two
