Vette Servo in '02 Xtreme

Looking at installing a Vette servo in the trans of my '02 Xtreme.

I've seen all the posts that show how to physically change the servo, but I don't have enough access to get at the darn thing; there is a resonator (?) in the exhaust before the converter, and this thing sits right in front of the cover I have to remove to change the servo.

What's the best way to get access? Drop the exhaust? Remove the trans crossmember, support the trans with a floorjack, and try to slide the whole thing to the drivers side?

For those of you who've done this, what worked best for you?

Thanks in advance!

I would say dropping the exhaust would be easiest because if your talking about sliding the tranny then you might as well take it out, put it on a bench, and sit in a nice compfy chair to change the servo

Re: Vette Servo in '02 Xtreme

Just curious, why do you want to change the servo?

Changing the servo to get a firmer 1-2 shift. Will be adding a Transgo shift kit as well.

Trying to get the trans ready to handle engine mods coming down the road.....

Doing mods like a shift kit and servo swap wont make your tranny hold up to anymore power all they do is give firmer shifts. You have to buy a rebiuld kit rated to hold more hp if you want to increase the stregth of your tranny.

Take the bolts loose holding the rear of the tranny. Push the tranny towards the drivers side and the servo will come out. It worked for me on my 01 extreme and I can definately tell a difference in the shift firmness.

Was the Y-pipe a major headache to work around, or did you drop that as well?

Re: Vette Servo in '02 Xtreme

just get a programmer and reprogram it to shift better. then you can also reprogram the engine to push all the power out of it you can.
