Is anyone had any experience with the flex fuel motors. I was getting about 17.5 mpg according to Computer with gas and I tried this E 85 since gas was 2.57 gallon and now the computer has been dropping and now it is at 12.9 mpg with half a tank left and 100 miles on the tank. I dont get what the point of the E 85 is if this is the results you get.

Anyone else have any encounters?

The biggest thing wih E85 is that it is made in the USA from corn, a renewable resource. What is the price for E85 a gallon?

Its usually about 50 cents cheaper, so it was like 2.09 gallon and gas was 2.57 gallon. I did the numbers and to go 1000 miles it would cost 155.04 ethanol and 142.85 for gas. So its better just to get the gas.

Saab has a new car that is coming to USA market next year that is Flex-fuel. They say the real mpg improvement is seen when you equip with a turbo. That way it gets improved hp:mpg ratio.

My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan is flex-fuel and I tried it a few time when visiting the mid-west and saw poor mpg when using E85.

E-85 has less BTU than conventional fuel so thats going to equate to less power and fuel economy......in the long run probably just as chaeap to use regular fuel....pay more but go further on tank of fuel
