Angry Please help! only half my engine running

While driving home monday, I stopped at a red light only to have my car suddenly crap out. The engine sounded like a old VW and the car was rocking like a canoe in hurricane. I made it home thankfully (28 miles of terror) and discovered that indeed, half my engine wasn't runnig. Numbers 2 and 3 aren't firing, there' no spark. We've replaced the ignition coil for 2&3 and the ignition control module and still no spark. Any suggestions? We have a haynes manual (crap) it mentions the ECM, but the schematic is all we have, there's no picture of where this is located. We are desperate!!! This lovely 92 cavalier is our only car and is the life blood of our family (at least for another 3-6 months) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
New item to add.....Took the car for a spin around the block and found the catalytic converter to be smoking, and red hot. This piece of garbage has been slowly deteriorating with the rest of the car, and since I could care a less about passing inspection this coming year, it's been cut off and replaced with some flex pipe (to hell with the environment, I need to get to work so my kids can eat) The converter was all plugged up and there is no longer smoke and nothing is red hot, however we still have not resolved the no spark to 2&3 issue. The crank sensor is being replaced this morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My next option is to give it a good shove into the river and have a little pity party as I watch it sink.......

Re: Please help! only half my engine running

You will need to pull the plugs to check for coolant, if you find coolant you have a bad head gasket. $50 and 4 hours if you do it yourself. I would start with the basics replace the plugs $4-$5 and plug wires $10-15. You may have had a partial miss on one of these cylinders for a while, when the other one went bad it made it real rough. A bad crank sensor or catalytic converter would effect ALL cylinders. Good Luck.
