Motorcycle Ride through Chernobyl

haven't had much time to check this out, but the pictures and stories are stunning.

here's one quote;

"Usually, on this leg of the journey, a beeping geiger counter inspires to shift into high gear and streak through the area with great haste. The patch of trees in front of me is called red - or 'magic" wood. In 1986, this wood glowed red with radiation. They cut them down and buried them under 1 meter of earth."

Re: Motorcycle Ride through Chernobyl

Repost...apparently it's fake..in the way that she didn't ride through alone, you get a guided tour in a 4wd or something (I forget, it was a while ago).

In any case, thanks for post it again, I've been trying to find the pics. Very haunting.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Motorcycle Ride through Chernobyl

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if I did interact AND SEE anything living for a week I'd go out of my mine. No one to talk to no one to hang with not even an animal imagine a world like that.

Years ago you were able to get a tour of the area's surrounding the plant but due to fears of vehicle's stiring up radioactive dust the tour's were closed down. You can't even get into the area anymore without government issued passes, and risk the chance of being shot if you illegaly enter the area. I wouldn't even dare tresspass there due to the fear of radiation poisoning. I have seen a picture from weeks after the accident of cleanup workers inside the plant holding a giger counter reading 30,000. I have always been fascinated with Chernobyl and would love to be able to visit the area someday, alas I don't have any connections in the Ukraine so getting a pass would be almost impossible. This girl is probobolly one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to view these area's (in my opinion at least). Peace-
