Cool BMW 320 Gr. 5 "Roy Lichtenstein"

Hi,

since I am member in this forum I saw some beginnings of this kit, but no one finished.

This model is a quickie, a BMW 320i from Tamiya with Roy Lichtenstein decals.

What I did:

- The rear inner fenders have a different size, as originally the model came with a electro motor. I equalized both and lowered the area under the seat bench (of the usual street car).

- The Tamiya-body was a little bit modified, primed and covered with white.

Good to see another one! Looks like a promising start.
Mine is on hold right now, cause I have too many kits started and am now going one by one.
Will look closely at your built to learn from it.
Which decals are you using - are you using other aftermarket parts??

Hi,

I will use the Studio 27 etched parts and and decals from a company called Ortmann, cheaper than other offers.

Ortmann decals are quite good, I used them for a Stella-CSL and a "Nurburgring" M1. Problem is, however, that some parts are printed the wrong way round sometimes and that the detail on the prints is not as crisp as on Studio 27 decals e.g., so you should check them carefully.

Hi, I'd just like to know why you left the 'sprue' piece in the windscreen? I would have thought it'd make better sense to remove that at the same time as getting rid of mould lines.
Nice work on the decals - they look kinda tricky

Hi,

I left the sprue to give some stability to the lower window frame and to handle it while decaling. As the windowframe need some black I have to sand there again.

Wow, great decal work. I always love to see decent jobs on hard decal subjects. Finish it the way you started it.

Hi sportracer02!

What's wrong with the Ortmann decals? It appears as if they don't have any green color.
My Liechtenstein Art Car was done with Studio27 decals and looks like this:

But yours looks great!

Marc

Hi,

probably due to the inside photo the green appears very dark. Nevertheless, I think it is darker than the green on the 1:1 car, while the Studio 27 green appears too bright. A mixture of Ortmann- and Studio 27-green would be the compromise :-))
