my 1991 s-10

I have a 91 s-10 with a 2.8 . when i take off it chugs and lurches in all gears and doesnt have the take off it had. The only code that comes up is 44 for o2 running lean. Could that cause my problem?

have you done a tune-up? cap, rotor, plugs, wires, air and fuel filters. also do a fuel pressure check. could be running lean because of lack of fuel.
