power seat track
does anybody know what to do about a power seat track that pops when you are driving down the road or when you shift you weight from the front to the rear of the seat? Is it normal for these power seat tracks to wear out?
1996 Z71 Ext. cab 106,000 miles.

Not much you can do, other than replace the defective seat track, unless you want to fix it in one position permanently. These normally wear out prematurely for 2 reasons; 1. primary driver over 250 lbs (not to be rude, just in my experience this is what I have observed). 2. Vehicle has been involved in a rear end collision that put undue stress on the seat back.

I'm not sure which seats you have (60/40) or buckets. The seat tracks are avlble seperately from GM. They vary from about $40 to $80, depending on which side you need and which model you have.

Outer seat track #15991504 list $66.90 Double check those part #'s with a dealer, but they show to be correct for your application |

Re: power seat track
I have a 97 Ext Cab Z71 with the same seat problem, power bucket seat, but two dealers where I live tell me with my truck I have to buy the whole track riser, which is 400.00, my vin # is 2GCEK19R1V1151237
I was hoping I could do what the above guy did with his 96 model and just get the two tracks, but dlr says thats for the manual seats???? Any help would be appreciated!!! Dave |
