93 probe GT starting problems...shorting out?

ok so i bought a freinds probe for like 100 bucks and i replaced the battery and i took the starter to napa and the did a diagnostics on the starter and it was fine. so i took it back put it in the car and nothing happened. so i used a vol meter and checked the wire to the celeniod and it read 0.5 volt (should be 11-12 volts) so i took the wire off connecting to the celeniod and checked it and the wire had 11 volts going through it.... so i think there is a short or something in the wiring but i am not sure if u have any info plz help
