The Pimpin Service tech vs Z28

So, the perks of working for a family business is that you sometimes get to run errands in your own car... on company time... taking your sweet time... and having the company pay for fuel.

Which, for a Z28... can be alot of money. Especially with prices at $2.89 for 91 octane recently. That company card can be a blessing.

Mom says for me to grab some stuff and run it out to a Customer's boat. SweeeetI think.

"Oh, and if you need gas, use the card." Sweeettttt I think again. To be honest, I'd just filled up the day before... so I really didn't need gas. But I made it my mission to try and use as much as I could...

Hop in the Camaro, roll on out. Hit the freeway for a fairly mediocre drive towards my destination. I exit the freeway and cruise down the road towards the Marina I need to visit.

As I cruise, listening to some classic 80's tunes like Def Leppard, some Whitesnake and of course Van Halen. Hey, I have to fit Camaro owner stereotype... just trying to meet my monthly quota of 80s tunes... and we're doing it in style.

I come up on a E46 M3..err sorry... ///M3 Convertible. Top up.... with a black guy driving it. Now, this is Southern California... M3's are pretty much all over. And seeing a black guy driving one ain't that big of a deal. So at first I'm thinking nothing of it.

And since I'm on the companys time, and the company is paying for gas. I'm not being leisurely on the motor, I'm letting the gears wind out a bit longer than normally. Enjoying the burbly blurbs of the LS1.

I guess our friend in the M3 heard me. I just happen to look over, to give him a friendly nod... And I notice it... his shirt... it's nothing a M3 owner would be wearing... no... that's.... a Service Tech shirt... Then my eyes go from the shirt to his face and he's got this ear to ear grin.

And he slaps the SMG down a gear and guns it... Now, I'm still traveling through 2nd gear at this point at about 2,500rpm. I'd just rolled up on a red light in the middle lane and it went green just as I downshifted to 1st to stop... I hate when that happens... screws up your mojo and cruisin stature...

By the time my brain calculates that... A) A service tech never is gentle on a customers car and B) he just smiled and took off... in a M3... C) Why are we still talking to ourselves... Right foot... where are you?...

I hit the gas hard and the LS1 came to life with the thundering loudness of... something... loud and ... thunderish... ? Yes, anyways... point is... I'm now racing after him, he's got a good 1 car lead on me from his self given head start.

At the end of 2nd gear, I'm right at his rear bumper... I shift to 3rd and I creep past him... getting towards the end of 3rd gear and nearing 80mph on a surface street I let off with about a half a car lead on him.

I hit the brakes hard... trying to get to somewhat legal speeds before a Kojack with Kodak nails me for double the speed limit.

The M3 tech driver, all happy as can be.. when you're racing in somebody elses car.

We nod to each other for the 'quickie'... and he turns off. I suppose to get that bizzle rizzle back to the dealershippizzle.

The M3 obviously sounded great being next to me... roarin away... that is of course untill I got ahead of him... still, was fun.

Haven't really raced the Z28 against much... so that was definately cool.

Let the BMW freaks begin their tear down of how it's imppossible for anything to beat their dreamcar.

Kidding of course.

After that, you should have said:

Matty: "I knew I'd beat you man!"
Tech: "Why?"
Matty: "Because even when my friend, who owns that car, drives it, he still loses..."

I'm gonna call BS only based on

A) You said that in honor of Andy's death, you wouldn't race for a month
and
B)It has been less than a month since Andy died...

lol... i know.. but Andy would probably call me a fag for not racing... he was like that...

Josh and I thought about it and we think he'd actually want us to keep doing what we do... Although, I've done it less and less. And far more cautious than I used to be... and even then I wouldn't go unless I was very sure it was safe.

Very true...

The riche black guys around here all drive dubed out Benzs...I saw the first wheels bigger than 24s on a car today...most of the time I see them on Escalades, but I was walking from my car to work, and saw an S600 with wheels that HAD to have been bigger than 24s.

Re: The Pimpin Service tech vs Z28

Nice Kill. Those German car techs really like to get on their clients cars. My 944 always fucked up shortly after taking it to the mech. I got tired of wasting all my money on it so I sold it.

Oh yeah, lately, where I live there have been black dudes driving 80s sedans like malibus or caprice classics with like 24s or bigger and I swear those cars are now higher off the ground then some pick up trucks...

Funny, cuz around here the only time I ever see an expensive car (like a vette, ferrari, lambo, or an NSX) a brother's behind the wheel.
