vtec questions

how do tell if my vtec is working? if i turn it on with the engine off i can hear it clicking and if i make it come on at low rpm or idle i notice the engine run a little diff but i dont think its making any diff under hard acceleration a friend told me that it will not work untill 5500 rpm because of the oil press. is this true

If your under 6 foot tall, vtec wont work at all.

Sounds like you need a vtec lesson. Actually vtec cannot engage if the car isnt moving(pretty sure of that) and it doesnt always engage at 5500rpm it depends on which engine you have or if you have vafc. The engine should sound different and feel stronger when it does engage. Theres some more stuff but I think I think I answered your question sort of because I dont exactly know if its working or not but are you sure its not working? Or do you just THINK its not working?

if ur using a switch to engage vtec.. yes u will hear a relay click if the engine is off, if u engage at idle on start up.. most likely the motor will bog and shut off.. if u engage vtec at norm op temps at idle it will run.. but ur fuel will lean out.
