3.1 to 383 stroker

alright guys i recently traded a mazda 626 for a 92 rs. not a bad deal the mazda was wrecked. the camaro is in good shape all except for it has a 3.1. Im wanting to do a 383 conversion. Im going carb. instead of fuel injected to make it easier. I believe im either gonna go 700r4 or maybe to a 5 speed. i going to start on it soon but i have a few questions. I know the spings and such are different on the v8 should i have a problem putting springs and struts/shocks from a z car on my rs. I would think they should bolt right up. also the radiator should just bolt right in correct??? and should i also get the crossmember in the front from a z car or just use mine and tack weld it. I also plan on changing the rear end to a posi unit. Any help would be appreciated or if i left anything else please let me know so i dont trip and fall and can get it done right the first time. Thanks all

the crossmember will be fine as the frames are the same from one camero to another ,,as for the suspension just get your springs for a v8 car with Air conditioning this will give it a good stance in the front without it being real rigid,,if you are gonna go with a low gear in the back like 4.11,s then use a 700r4 trans it has the overdrive that will help you out with the low gear and highway driving,,the 5 speed will slow you down in the numbers area,,they are for a sporty kinda car,,you are building a numbers car if you are putting a stroker 383 small block in it,,,also use a good 4 core radiator or a 3 core ,,it will bolt right in and so will all your suspension parts,,the real custom thing to biuld is the cross member for the trans if you want a true dual exhaust other wise with stock cross members you will be stuck with either a very expensive exhaust or a y pipe somewhere in it,, as for the fuel I would go with a throttle body not a carb but that is a matter of prefrence I have gone both ways. good luck and keep us posted!!
