I have a 99.5 Jetta. A couple days ago the car started to overheat, the fans wouldn't cycle, but if I put the ar in neutral and shot the car off for a couple seconds then start it back up & put it in drive, the temp would go back to normal. I sofar have replaced the thermostat & the thermoswitch also flushed the engine, tested the fans (they work). I noticed today that after driving awhile it started to overheat again, but if I turn on the AC the fans come on & the temp goes back to normal. Any adeas?
Thank you |

Sounds like your coolant fan control module took a dump. its under the battery tray... you can see it from under the car. (also checkthe fuses on top of the battery first.)
