grrr what am I doing wrong?

Alright, I've posted this question on here recently, but nothing was able to solve my problem. Here is the old thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=430753

My problem is my inability to spray acrylic paint through my airbrush. I've tried all the suggestions - biggest spray nozzle, matching thinner... Last night when I tried again, I couldn't get it to spray for more than about 2 or 3 seconds at once, and that was already thinning the paint gradually until I got to about 3 parts thinner to 1 part paint. (Edit: I switched back to enamel right after and I had no problem whatsoever.)

What I think the problem is, although I could just be pulling this out of the sky, is that since I don't have a pressure regulator, I'm spraying at too high of a pressure? I think the testor's mini blue compressor puts out 30 or 35 psi if I remember correctly.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated!
